The Big Bounce 2021

The Big Bounce is back! After last year’s online festival live from the Barrowlands, this time the whole family can get hands-on with exciting and inspiring physics at the amazing venues in the Barras.

It’s a celebration of curiosity and discovery, with amazing family science shows, fun workshops, and all sorts of drop-in activities in the main hall – and it’s all completely free.

Making the invisible, visible - visit Quantum City!

Climate change is just one area where physics, more specifically quantum physics, can make a big difference.  Reducing methane emissions in the atmosphere is the fastest way to slow climate change so researchers within QuantIC, the UK Hub for Quantum Imaging, are working to develop cameras that can see methane and help to prevent gas leaks.  Visit the Quantum City stand to use our 3D augmented reality (AR) app which demonstrates some of the imaging technology our scientists are working on such as cameras that can see round corners, through smoke and fog, and image invisible gases.
